Goin off the end of the previous entry Im gonna go in on titles. Now titles from books to movies to foods to names are meant to let us kno a little without giving away the entirety for example its jus Titanic not the big boat that sunk but this post is more focused on titles in life from job position to personal life.
This topic came into the most clarity for me when it was being decided wat my title for my group (T.E.A.M. - Teen Education Athletic Mentors find us on facebook or youtube) should be and we basically pulled it outta nowhere; Marketing Administrator. Now dont get it twisted I love the title no one above or below me, I jus do wat I do, sell the group but it got me to thinking what does it MEAN? Wats the point? The subsequent thoughts got me into the post at hand.
Often I see people place SO MUCH emphasis on titles and how they dictate the way one should live their life. "he can only do that cause he's my boyfriend" "ur only gettin this cause we're family"and so on and its grown to sicken me. Why is ur man allowed to treat u anything but better? Why is it the only reason ur willing to help is because some genetic similarities? The way one should act shouldnt be pre-determined based on some words but instead of wat YOU determine someone's worth to you to be. Now unfortunately my dream of living in a world where titles dont exist would take a lot of unlearning and relearning and I barely passed school the first time (im still in the process of finishing....2012 baby) Im goin to have to make due with what I have.
The immediate stigma and weight that comes wen you say a title saddens me but wat can I do? I try to open as many minds as I can but immediate if I say friend, cousin, niece, girlfriend peoples minds go in a certain direction and if theres 1 thing to take from this post is that there are waaaay more directions to go in, jus open ur minds and take the red pill...or was it the blue pill? Its been a while since 1997 and Kianu Reeves dodging bullets
