Now (ya Im gettin rite in there this time) excuses are often easily avoidable and used to cover up failures while most justifications are supposed to be seen as REASONS as to why things happened which means their usually more acceptable than excuses. This post is callin the both of them out. OOOOOOOO (noise made by kids wen 1of em gets in trouble). I want to everyone to kno that jus because your more intelligent and can come up with great justifications does not alleviate your responsibility to yourself or others!
Excuses are often lackluster and childish and sound like a badly written childrens novel. Put it to you this way, you know your making an excuse when your voice sounds kind of whiny and higher pitched than usual and when the person your makin it to has an incredulous look (look of disbelief) on their face because their shocked your not only saying, but tryin to convince them that you genuinely BELIEVE this BS (not blogger syndrome, Bull Spit) If you hear the word "but" being used a lot is a classic sign of an excuse being made, this is not to be confused with "butt" which is usually means a sex story is bein told (prolly not a good 1 if its censored with butt). Another good way to hear and learn how to recognize excuses would be to ask a child about their homework. LORDY, Ive worked with children for 5 years now and I swear Ive heard almost every excuse 1 can hear. They are master S.T'ers (Shit Talkers/Story Tellers) when it comes to excuses for their homework, which is really ironic when their homework is writing a story (lol) but I digress they can spin a web of lies that Ive seen them get so lost in they cant keep the details straight. Not to excuse them (I feel like this is ironic even tho the definition is different), but (for the mostpart) their just kids and although Im making sure mine are different I cant expect other people's to be there. My beef lies with the adults. If your grown and making an excuse, that your dog got hit by a car for the 8th time this month and thats why your late lease grow the f*ck up and learn your green ass some responsibility (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xx_JImKuys fast forward to 7:20). If you fucked up than you fuked up, own it and jus SAY SO! I mean depending on the situation it may get you ostracized or even in trouble (firing) but its much better than hearing you(rself) sound like 12 year old who procrastinated and didnt do their homework, not a good look.
Justifications are worse simply because their usually used by the more intelligent people and their smart enough to legitimize any ludicrous line of reasoning and make it sound as though their deluded ideals were not only welcomed but NEEDED. Im not sure whose ever seen Frasier but that show is the best example of justifications run a muck. He's an incredibly intelligent psychiatrist and also has many of his own issues and vices and when trying to "rationalize" his effed up actions, his ability to find justification for them is defense attorney good. Ive always said (after seeing on a Weekenders episode, sorry I cant find the clip) "you can justify anything with a little effort" and people have for centuries from using religion, voices, gut feelings, dreams, to random coincidences ANYTHING can be used to form a case for taking the burden of responsibility off of oneself....until NOW. Now is when I make a call to arms so to speak. Im asking for you all to do and be better. Im aware it wont happen overnight but it has to start NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!
Those of you who read this make sure you spread the word and tell your children and your childrens children, and 2 strangers on the street that self awareness and ownership of 1's actions and behaviour is the only way to eliminate lame excuses and deluded justifications from our sense of "norm" in society and eliminate them from being seen as an acceptable personality trait. I cant do it alone people, Im only 1 man, 1 loud, strange man.
