For years Ive heard this placebo of a statement applied to everything under the sun. Its an umbrella statement made to pacify children when parents dont really have a good enough reason as to why the ball didnt bounce their way or talk a tired person down from the brink of a mental breakdown and personally Ive never really been satisfied with it. My response has always been "why?"
Simple sweet and to the point, why does it have to be that way? How come that doesnt bother ANYONE? Its as if we jus accept life being a bitch then dying, and Im sorry if I sound idealistic, but thats definitely not good enough for me. I understand there will be situations where things are going to be out of my control and theres nothing I can do about it (at least initially) but to accept it as "apart of life" or "the way life is" isnt going to be me anymore. I realize I say anymore and the natural reaction will be "But you jus said you never did" and that is correct, you'be been paying attention and if you wouldnt say that then pay attention however as with most things people have a way of beating things over your head until you accept them for urself and after a while I jus started to accept shitty circumstances as life taking its turn with my bum bum-ginity (Shout outs to Fiddy for that phrasing). Well no more, I know that things will happen and theres little we can do about the something but that doesnt give any of us right to pack it in and jus accept instead of working through and trying to change our circumstances for the better so that life CANT try to bend us over and force us to "spread em" again.
Sometimes these situations will hurt like a biyotch (trust when I say) and to try to make sure you limit or fully eliminate them from your future will seem damn near impossible but its not going to help anything to brush it off nor get caught up in it as "life". That shit has been goin on far too long and it only begats more false apathy. "O its whatever life will jus fuck you over anyway" creates the idea of cant win dont try and that attitude is pretty much settling for whatever life "gives you" (I realize Im quoting a lot this post....deal with it) I guess this post was really jus a reminder for myself to stop letting the lazy apathy seep in and accepting it as fact. If ya'll wanna do you but now that your aware I can do nothing more, its hard enough to stop it on myself much less all ya'll.
This is the advice of a guy whose clearly checked out. If you wanna choose apathy as your path listen and watch this guy, if that alone doesnt make you re-think than its too late for you:

...i don't know that "life is unfair" was ever just an apathetic excuse to stop trying. not how i've seen it, anyway.
ReplyDeletethat phrase is not to say you just have to accept that life is shit and be unhappy forever. it's to remind us that things won't always be easy nor will they always go in our favour, so we're prepared for the difficulty and ready to fight *harder*. understanding life is shit takes us out of the victim role, "oh this is so hard, why is this happening to me? this isn't fair, i don't deserve this, boo hoo hoo" and step up and take responsibility for our own happiness. that shit isn't easy, nor should it be. but if we aren't trying, we can't really complain about having a shit life.
just my view, anyway.
I feel as tho its a gateway drug and it causes people to start using Crystal Meh. Some people use life isnt fair as excuse to settle into a rut and I feel like I was becoming one of them so I wrote this to look em all lovinginly in the eye grab em by the shoulder and shake em really hard and say "HEY your actin like a nut!" I dont disagree that if your not trying you cant really complain but your definition of trying is far different than the average persons. They can be satisfied with the bearest of bare minimums
ReplyDeleteI shoulda posted Coach McGuirks prescription for a better life since thats essentially wat this is and what I shoulda titled it
