This time on "Noteable Quoteables" I have more of an obscure one for ya. My previous quotes were pretty obvious and straight forward but this one is open to more interpretation:
"We are mistaken to think that there are things that exist solidly within the flow of experience that is our life." ~ Dzogchen Ponlop
"We are mistaken to think that there are things that exist solidly within the flow of experience that is our life." ~ Dzogchen Ponlop
This quote to me essentially means that we are foolish to assume that we are able to base all of life just off of the experiences that we've already had. Many people who are, lets call them more "seasoned" like to believe that they are the experts on any every topic because they've either gone through or know someone thats gone through a faintly similar experience and its virtually impossible to tell them anything because they've "been there and done that".
However Im a believer that life has more flow than rigidity to it. Similar to an ocean, life is powerful, unpredictable, and cruel as often as it is calm, soothing and beautiful. You can have an idea and recognize similar scenarios to avoid negatively repeating the same mistakes but that doesn't mean that experience dictates everything, circumstances often make or break different scenarios and make them what they are.
Your Note from this Quote:
Life isn't set to go how you think it will based off what has already happened and in thinking it will and trying to control it, you will be consistently surprised and possibly overwhelmed. Adaptation is needed in order to survive let alone thrive because we will be thrown unexpected curveballs and in all honesty those curveballs are what make life worth livingmost of the time.
