I realize that thus far my blog has been me trying to get outta my head or trying to improve mankind (ur welcome) and it hasnt been any of the stereotypical blogging of my worthless opinions (under a dim single bulb in a secluded room) on many things that I or other people find to be "conspiracies" (The British are coming). Onto the topic at hand and obviously this isnt the first that anyone has heard or made this claim (just look at the gas prices) but my belief is that it runs waaaaay deeper than that. Follow my train of thought if you will.....
In order to drive we 1st and foremost we need to be licensed. Not unreasonable right? You'd expect someone who wants to do most things to be certified in it (if only that went for more things, let your imaginations wander >=) --> bbm devil face). In order to be licensed you need to first obtain a permit that "permits" you to learn how, again not all that unreasonable (although to learn you have to pay for the permit....odd). Heres where the discrepancy starts. Once you've paid for that permit that "permits" you to learn you can then either wait a full year before you step up in the "permit" ranking or go to a Driving School (at a cost, of course) Once this happens you can move up in the rankings to a "G2" (again at a cost). This allots for more driving freedom (no more chaperone's, highway driving) but itself comes with limitations (time restrictions and expiration... all licenses expire but if this does 1 has to start from scratch) So once you've completed the time with this "G2" you then get to move up to G providing you pass that test and then your fully licensed and need to renew your license every couple of years. This process isnt THAT ridiculous but it definitely is a lot of hoop jumping for the sake of hoop jumping.
Where the conspiracy gets real for me is the insurance factor. Before I get started I want to make it clear that I do not hate insurance by any means, it provides us with a very good service; help if a situation outside of our control occurs for a nominal fee. The problem I have is those fees. Ive legitimately heard horror quote stories of $700+ a month and I honestly feel as tho they expect people to live out of their cars and never drive nor eat. The government also passed a law making it illegal to drive without insurance so God forbid if you havent fully paid off your automobile cause that means that your dropping a small fortune a month jus for the "opportunity" to drive and that doesnt even consider the price ofcrack gas. Did I mention that the same protection you pay so highly for comes with restrictions and limitations that can actually cause you to pay even more if something does happen? (even if its not your fault)
I could honestly go on and on (and on) but the point is the bureaucracy that now surrounds driving has made it so bastardized that it almosts ruins the pure fun and adrenaline and freedom that we all looked forward to when we were young. Driving was initially a very exclusive act that only a select few could do and its turned into... well this:
