Ya Im a fashion dread, and wat! I said it! If you judgemental Rastafarians have a beef with it Im not hiding it or me so deal with it. Now that the gauntlet has been thrown, onto the meat (pun intended) of the post, me being a dread. (Fashion) Dreads are more the type who like the hairstyle but not too knowledgeable about the religion whereas Rasta's are more spiritual and connected to the teachings and I understand that many of those who are deeply spiritual may see my having dreads and not being an avid follower of their style/religion as a bit disrespectful and I apologize if thats the case but to me its simply a sign of my progression into manhood. Ive never been a fan of cornrows too late into my 20's (no offense to those who rock em, I jus did NOT want it for me) I believe that in order for me to progress into adulthood I needed to leave that look behind but Ive grown very attached to my hair over the struggles we've gone through together and I like havin it so I had to find a new style/look to reflect the new stage of my life and Ive long since coveted dreadlocks.
Long, well maintained, neat dreads wrapped in a nice 3 piece suit have always been a goal (pipe dream) of mine for myself and I feel Im takin steps to get there its jus annoying to hear all the fashion dread hate and the disgusted looks if I order bacon or a hamburger at a restaurant. Like I have my own beliefs about meats and eating them and if you feel Im nasty for having pork thats fine but I say most people need to take a hard look at their diet before they get preachy cause many vegetarians who say they dont eat flesh or living things make me rethink what plants are hmmmmm? Fish who eat anything from the sea and are full of mercury (the stuff that goes into thermometers) while they have positives to them I definitely dont think most should be able to say hey this is bad and that isnt based soley on the reasons I jus listed.
Long post short, people need to stop with the judgemntal behaviour based on a hairstyle. I do what I want and Im not dictacted to by the hair on my head. Also people have become a bit too accoustomed to addressing me as the dread guy or describing me that way and that needs to cut from now or I will make this my theme song:
